When it comes to FTP server hosting, what exactly are you looking for?  It goes without saying that you want accessibility and convenience, that’s why you went ahead and began looking into FTP hosting in the first place, but is that it? Here are some other features you will probably want to look for in FTP web hosting services…

Security

An FTP host should, at the very least, provide some basic, strong, dependable, and flexible security. You do not want to be hacked, of course, but if you have a website and you create a second login to allow a guest-writer or someone to upload content, you want them to actually be able to get in, even though they are signing in from a different computer.

What you want is transparency. You want to be in charge of your own security. A request to put another client on the login should not require administrator approval before hand. It is your hosting space, so why can’t you do what you want with it?

Price

A reasonable price is a must. Typically, you might not even give much thought to price, as you rely on ad revenue to cover hosting costs. Some FTP hosts, however, are charging so much you would think they were selling snacks in an airport.  Once you have determined exactly how much space you need and so on, make sure that you have taken a look at a few different hosts so that you can gauge a fair price for what you are buying.

Flexible Plans

Ideally, you should be able to buy X without necessarily having to buy Y. Most hosts sell their space in hosting packages, so you get, say, a gig of storage and unlimited bandwidth with this package, or five gigs and domain registration with that one, etc. Basically, the more packages they offer, the more likely you will find one in your price range that offers everything you need.
